Rehab

At Chase Rehab our Occupational Therapists (OTs) play a crucial role in community based rehabilitation programs. Community Based Rehabilitation is an approach to rehabilitation that emphasizes community involvement and empowerment, and aims to provide people with disabilities access to services, resources and opportunities to participate in society.

In a community-based rehabilitation program, OTs work with individuals with disabilities, their families, and their treating specialists to identify and address barriers they face when participating in daily activities and routines. They focus on developing practical skills and strategies to promote independence, improving quality of life, and enhance social and emotional well-being.

The OT may provide a range of services, including:

1. Assessments:

They will conduct assessment of individuals with disabilities to identify their strengths, needs and goals.

2. Intervention:

They develop and implement interventions to address the needs and goals of individual, which may include training in activities of daily living (ADL’s), mobility, communication and social skills.

3. Education:

The OT will provide education and training to the client, their families and/or their support network on disability related topics, such as prevention, health promotion and disability awareness.

4. Advocacy:

The OT will advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities and promote their inclusion and participation in the community.

5. Collaboration:

The OT will collaborate with other healthcare professionals, community organisations, and government agencies to ensure that individuals with disabilities have access to necessary services and resources.
